I can’t even imagine the repercussions social media would have had in the 1960’s. So, I won’t. Trust me, with my bad habits, it would have been extremely ugly. Some of our past should stay where it belongs and not in an iCloud for all of eternity.
I found some new entertainment for my covid isolation. Before I settle down for the evening, I take a large tablespoon of my medicinal mixture (I use a wonderful Traverse City honey as my secret ingredient) and watch an episode or two of Schitt’s Creek. There is always something in each 20 minute episode that tickles my funny bone. The show reminds me of the small town I grew up in. Not a lot of things happening but a good way to live. Friends and neighbors coexisting in a tranquil environment.
In retrospect, I wish I would have traveled more when I was young. Traveling as a senior citizen is ok but is entirely different. When young, my motto was damn the torpedoes full speed ahead. You can go for days and days in your youth, but as you age, no more throwing caution to the wind. Every move is more calculated and must be analyzed to ensure our safety. I hate to trip over my own two feet. The risk factor is avoided, where in reality it’s the risk factor that makes life fun. When I was young, living on the edge was my way of life. Those were some crazy times with stories that will be forever sealed in my personal vault. However if you buy me enough good scotch, I’d be more than happy to spill the beans. Well, it’s a known fact we should look both ways before we cross the street.
The picture above is of Puako Beach on the Big Island. We were scheduled to be there last summer, but had to postpone until June 2021. My new perfect vacation is playing my fiddle on the beach with a Mai Tai within an arm's length. I guess that will have to pass for the new wild and crazy me. Hopefully, someday, we will move to the Big Island. What a great finish for a pretty darn good life. Damn, the beach is looking good. Covid, covid go away and don’t ever come back ever, ever, ever!
